Ogun state based side Remo Stars have been relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League this season after a 3 - 1 loss at home to Rivers United.

They become the first side to be relegated this season after the humiliating defeat in front of their fans at the Gateway International Stadium.

Fatai Osho’s side spend only one season in the top flight and return to the Nigeria National League. The side knew a defeat against Rivers will spell their end in the top flight.

Goals from Bernard Ovoke, Emeka Ogbugh and Esosa Igbinoba condemned the side to a defeat despite a consolation from Oche Salefu.

The team won just seven games out of 34, losing 19 and playing eight draws.

They still have games against Wikki Tourists, Katsina United Enugu Rangers and Sunshine Stars in their remaining games before returning to the NNL.
