The home-based Super Eagles have qualified for the 2018 African Nations Championship after an aggregate 2 - 1 win over West African rivals Benin republic.

The Super Eagles lost the first leg 1 - 0 in Cotonou due to a 90th minute penalty but came into the second leg full of optimism.

Kano Pillars captain Rabiu Alli scored the opener in the first half at the Sani Abacha stadium and Kingsley Eduwo scored the second in the second half.

The Squrriels had a penalty but FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeper made the save much to the delight of the fans.

Salisu Yusuf's side can look forward to the 2018 African Nations Championship in Kenya.
